Online Admit Response Process

Below are instructions for submitting your online response to an offer of admission made by the UNH Graduate School. Please be aware that only students officially admitted by our office will be able to respond online. While your department will make recommendations concerning your admittance nothing is official until approved, and coded, by our office. You will be notified, by email from the Graduate School, when that happens and at that point you can go online and submit your response.

Responding Online - Steps

  1. Make sure you have activated your MyUNH (Blackboard) account.
  2. Login to your MyUNH/Blackboard account and click on the "Webcat/Services" tab and click on the "Continue" button.
  3. Click on the "Admissions" link.
  4. Under the Application Menu you will likely see a number of options. If you are eligible to respond online you will see a section called "Admitted Applications REQUIRING YOUR RESPONSE." Below it will list any applications that are currently waiting for a response. Click on the one you wish to respond to.
  5. The "Display Admitted Application" page will load, which will show all of your information including contact information (if your contact information is incorrect you can update it AFTER you submit your response.) At the bottom of this page is the response pull down menu. You will have three choices:
    1. Accept: This means you are accepting the offer of admission and are going to attend the UNH Graduate School.
    2. Decline: This means you are NOT accepting our offer of admission. If you select this option you will be prompted for a reason as to why you are declining.
    3. Defer: If you wish to accept the offer but would like to defer your admission for (at most) 1 year then select this option. You will then be asked to select the semester and the year that you wish to defer to.
  6. After making your decision a confirmation page appears, which you should print for your records. Decisions are updated instantly (except for deferrals) so if you go back to the application menu you should see your updated status.
  7. The last step is to verify and update your contact information. Click on the "Personal Information" tab to view your information and make any changes as necessary. Note that your UNH email address cannot be changed - your UNH email address is considered your only official email address with the University.

Accelerated Master's

If you are an Accelerated Master's Admit you will not be able to respond online as you need to meet with our Academic Counselor.  Please see the Accelerated Master's guidelines for more detail.

International Admits

If you are an international applicant who has been admitted, and you are accepting that offer, be sure you have completed and submitted the mandatory Financial Declaration Form. This form is required for VISA purposes.

Help (FAQ)

Below are the most commonly asked questions about admission offers and using the online response form.  If you do not find your answer below please feel free to contact our office directly with any questions.

  • Questions and Answers

  • The department told me I was admitted. Why don't I have the option to respond online?
    • Your admission is not official until the department's recommendation is approved, verified, and coded by the Graduate School office. Once we approve the department's decision your status will be updated and you will be able to respond online.
  • I am not sure what my current application status is - how can I check?
    • You can check the status of your application online by following these instructions.
  • Where is my letter of admission?
    • Once decision is made on you application an official letter will be emailed to you (as a PDF file) with that decision. The email will go to your UNH email address, if it exists, otherwise it will go to the email address you provided on your application.
  • After I make my decision how long will it take to be updated?
    • If you selected "Accept" or "Deny" the response will be immediate. If you select "Defer" your status will be updated indicating that you wish to defer, however, we will still need to process your request through the department, which can take a few weeks depending on the time of year. Once we start to process it, however, you can monitor the status of it online.
  • After I make my decision what is the next step?
    • If you declined admission you do not need to do anything further. If you accepted your admission and you do not have any holds on your account you will be able to register for courses once registration opens. If you chose to defer your admission we will send your application back to the department so that they can process the deferral. If the deferral is approved you will receive a letter to notify you of this, your application status will be updated, and you will be required to return to the online admit response form to accept or decline admission again.
  • I made a decision and I have changed my mind - how can I update my application with a new decision?
    • Once you have responded online you will not be able to change your decision online. Instead you need to email our office at grad.school@unh.edu or call 603-862-3000 with the following information:
      • Your full name
      • The year of your birth
      • The program and semester you applied for
      • The updated decision that you wish to be applied to your application
