PFF Quotes
"A teaching praxis opportunity allowed me to develop and teach a new
course at St. Anselm. Thanks to the PFF program I will become a
professor and continue teaching."

The UNH Ph.D. program in psychology has been preparing graduate
students for faculty positions since the 1960s. The program's goals are
to provide graduate students with a broad foundation in psychology as a
science, to assist them in developing a research specialization, to
offer them a strong program of study in quantitative and research
methods, and to provide them with opportunities to learn about the
history of psychology. In 2000, UNH's Department of Psychology, along
with three other doctoral granting psychology departments, was awarded a
grant from the American Psychological Association. The grant was awarded
in collaboration with the Council of Graduate Schools and the
Association of American College and Universities, and with support from
the Pew Charitable Trusts. The departments have been funded to further
develop and disseminate their nationally recognized efforts in preparing
doctoral students for faculty positions.

The Partnership for Academic
Programs in College Teaching (PACT)
Sponsored by The Fund for the Improvement of Post Secondary
Education (FIPSE), U.S. Department of Education, PACT is a diverse
network of institutions. Each institution contributes its special
strengths, unique perspectives, and individual programs to create a
shared response to the challenges of teaching and learning in an
ever-changing academic environment. Altogether, PACT represents 8,406
affiliated faculty and 4,600 doctoral students.
Since 1995, UNH has offered its doctoral students an array of academic
programs in College Teaching in support of its Preparing Future Faculty
program. PACT strengthens the UNH program even as it extends its reach.
Faculty from PACT institutions collaborate in the delivery of existing
courses, both in traditional classroom settings and via the Internet. In
addition, they participate in faculty clusters to design new courses
focused on teaching in specific fields and disciplines to augment UNH's
selection of such courses.
Since all courses are open to faculty as well as graduate students, they
offer doctoral students an opportunity to engage with faculty in a
shared inquiry into the processes of teaching and learning. Through
PACT, all partner institutions will develop their own Cognate and
Certificate programs, with the M.S.T. in College Teaching still
available to all members from UNH.
