Cesar J. Rebellon, Assistant Professor of Sociology Current Courses: |
|
“Any advice that I would give prospective applicants is to really get to know as many of the people who are in a particular department as possible, read up on what they are doing, and read up on their research. I think that it is really useful to immerse yourself as much as possible in the work of the people with whom you might end up doing your graduate studies.” “If I were to get an email from an undergraduate student saying, ‘Look, I’ve read this particular paper and I’m interested in this line of research,’ I’d be very eager to respond and try to help them out. I think that generally speaking, professors like to work with individuals who have a genuine interest in the field. That is something that is really gratifying for the professor.” “I’m certainly glad that I ended up where I did. UNH has given me the opportunity to teach courses in my particular field of expertise- delinquency and criminology. They’ve also given me leeway to develop new courses.” “I came to UNH because it seemed to be a good fit, but it ended up an even better fit and a place where I’ve been encouraged to pursue things that are of interest to me. I’ve been involved in the McNair program and that’s been really good. I think that it has made a difference for some of the kids in it, and it has been really fun to see the progress that some of them have made. Having that extra bit of self-confidence might get them to pursue something they may not have originally felt was possible.” |
